PRAISE THE LORD FOR A GREAT SHARE-A-THON!

Praise The Lord, and thank each of you, for another fantastic Share-A-Thon!
Our goal for listener support was a milestone $100,000; our final total was $101,301!  Following the Share-A-Thon, we pulled our records from the very first Share-A-Thon in 1993, and found that the total pledges for listener support then was $12,030.  God truly has brought us a long way.
Someone has said that where God guides, He provides.  He has certainly provided for us through the purchase of three radio stations, a power upgrade on 1500 AM, establishing Internet broadcasting around the world, and the
establishment of a fundamental Christian supply outlet.  We are now working and planning toward another power increase next spring, and we also have an application pending for an even greater increase within the next two to three years.
We would like to thank everyone that helped make the Share-A-Thon a success.  Our staff worked very hard to plan all the multitude of details.  Many volunteers helped with decorating, bushhogging, manning (and womaning) the telephones, serving food, providing music, and handling several mailings.  Hall’s Jeweler’s donated about $3,500 jewelry to give away.  Bro. Johnny Simpson did a great job on air throughout 25 long hours of live broadcasting.  Dr. Bill Wininger encouraged us and helped us keep our focus, as well as providing some great airtime giving insight into the ministry.  Sandy Johns brightened and lightened up our time on air and our studios as well.  Sally Johns gave us a much needed shot in the “faith” as we approached the end of the Share-A-Thon.
Last, but not least, we want to thank the almost 400 families, individuals, and churches that pledged financial support over the next year.  Every pledge, large or small, was a blessing, and a vote of support for what we are striving to do for the Lord.

We especially want thank the listeners who “picked us up and carried us” toward our goal in the last few hours of the Share-A-Thon.  $100,000 was a lofty, but needed, goal.

And it was an uphill battle all the way.  We began the Share-A-Thon about $4,000 less than last year!  At the end of Thursday, we were down $5,000.  By 7:00 P. M. Friday, we had caught up and were $900 ahead.  However, by 4:00 P. M. Saturday, it was obvious we needed the Lord to intervene in some hearts if we were to make our goal.  We prayed, turned it over to the Lord, and said, “Thy will be done.”  Then in amazement, we watched as many people responded with additional pledges.  Then we received a $3,200 pledge.  Then a $5,000 pledge.  At 7:00 P. M. Saturday, we were within striking distance at $94,000.  And then on Tuesday we went over the top when a listener brought a $5,000 check by our studios.

We are Praising the Lord for a great Share-A-Thon!  But we do not want to forget those who have sacrificed to make this work possible.  Please pray especially for Bro. Lynn and Sis. Sarah Garmon.  They had come by to bring us their pledge on Monday, October 9, when Mrs. Garmon fell outside our studios and broke her hip.  She had surgery on Wednesday, October 11, and is doing well in rehabilitation.  On Saturday following her surgery, their son, Michael, was killed in an accident.  The Bible says, “Weep with those that weep, and mourn with those that mourn.”  While we are rejoicing about a continued mandate to expand these ministries, we want to remember to pray for  the Garmons and all of you who have sacrificed to make this ministry possible.

A Renewed Thankfulness — That God continues to bless us with a great family of listeners who love and support the work we are doing.

A New Fiscal Year — October 1 began a new fiscal year for us.  This is a time when we take stock of what God has done in the past year, and what we believe He would have us do in the coming year.

A New Task — To make the goal of another power increase on 1500 AM Dallas a reality by next spring.

A Renewed Vision to Reach All of Atlanta — This is now becoming a vision rather than a dream.  A vision has more shape to it!  We hope to see it move from a vision to a goal to a task to a reality over the next few years.

A Renewed Commitment — To do God’s will.

What’s New with the Christian Supply Outlet

A Little Booklet Entitled “How To Be Filled With The Holy Spirit” by  Curtis Hutson—For years I have heard the story of how God worked in Curtis Hutson’s life to transform him from a mail carrier to the pastor of the great Forrest Hills Baptist Church in Decatur, and then for many years, the Editor of the Sword of the Lord.  In this booklet, he tells about the messages that changed his life.  He discusses how he was filled with the Holy Spirit, and how any Child of God can be filled with the Spirit and see God do “great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Small Inexpensive Biographies of Great Men and Women of God—During the Share-A-Thon, our gift to everyone who pledged was a biography of Billy Sunday.  This little book is written in story form, and is very “readable”.  I thoroughly enjoyed it, and learned much about the life of this great evangelist of the early 20th Century.  We have other books in this series, including the biographies of:
·         The great blind hymnwriter, Fanny Crosby, who wrote “Pass Me Not”, “Higher Ground”, “Blessed Assurance”, and many other hymns.
·         Martin Luther, who launched the Reformation
·         William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army
·         David Livingstone, the great missionary who opened up Africa
·         Songwriters Philip Bliss, H. G. Spafford, Frances Havergal, and William Cowper
DVD’s and VHS Tapes—Also, during the Share-A-Thon, we gave a DVD of the life of Billy Sunday to those who pledged above $12.50 per month, or $150.00 per year.  In addition to this DVD, we now have:
·         Tom Williams’ life story Dr. Williams’ wife, Pam,  died in October after almost 30 years of care following being stricken with spinal meningitis.
·         Several Christians movies and Children’s films.
·         Messages on DVD and VHS by Bob Jones, Sr., Curtis Hutson, B. R. Lakin, Jack Hyles, Harold Sightler, John R. Rice, and Wally Beebe
Ten Commandment Yard Signs—These beautiful, full color yard signs might not be welcome in America’s courtrooms, but they can certainly let your friends and neighbors know how you value the Ten Commandments.
Highlighters—These highlighters are especially made so as not to “bleed through” the pages of your Bible.
Boxed Christmas Cards—We have just replenished our supply of KJV Christmas cards.  By the way, we also have KJV Special Occasion cards that are as nice as any you will find in any card shop!  Our staff are our best customers on these.  We love them!
